Researches show that about 10% of the world population has to deal with warts at least once in their life. The most common sufferer is between the age of 4 and 25. It is said that as we age the body is getting immune to the virus causing the warts.

For many people who will suffer from warts, no treatment is needed. A small wart in an inconspicuous place that is not bumped or irritated frequently by friction can be left untreated and will eventually go away. It is advised not to touch your warts, as warts can spread by contact. That’a the reason why you oftentimes see a cluster of warts in one area. Sometimes the fabric in your clothes rubbing against the wart and then touching other parts of your body can cause warts to spread.

It is a good idea to give one of the many over the counter drugs a try if you have only one or two warts that annoy you. Although all of them are over the counter drugs that contain chemicals one would expect that they are guaranteed to work, but this is not the case. Several of the known over the counter drugs claim that they will remove your warts fast. Others may tell you to continue using the ointment for weeks. One of the most common ingredients in over-the-counter wart removers is salicylic acid. Whenever choosing an over-the-counter product you can ask the pharmacist about the pros and cons of each one.

When warts are in a very visible place, such as your face, or you have a large number of them, you may want to seek help from a doctor. Two of the methods used by doctors as treatment for warts are cryotherapy and laser surgery. Cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen to freeze the wart, which will then fall off. If you decide that Cryotherapy is for you, you will be aware that you will have to go to your doctor’s office several times. Laser surgery is the surgical removal of the wart by laser technology. These two methods are possibly painful and more invasive. Your physician will let you know if one of these options is for you.

One last option I want to point out may look like an old wive’s tale. A home remedy for wart removal that consists of applying duct tape to the wart or warts for six days. After the six days, soak the wart in warm water and use a pumice or emery board to file off the wart. You may need to continue it for several weeks, until you will see any results.

By using any of the treatments decsribed you will cure your warts. They will not guarantee that your warts won’t come back again. You now know that your body is susceptiable to the virus that causes warts.
