If you only feel lethargic every now and then, don’t panic about it. That’s normal. But when your lethargic feeling turns from a “once every now and then” event to an “every waking hour” state, then it’s time to get rid of your lethargy.

There are many different reasons you could be feeling lethargic.

Maybe the pressure at work over the last few weeks has been higher than normal. If that’s the case, reward yourself with some time just lazing around for the weekend. There’s a good chance that this break from your routine will be enough to sort out your problem.

But if you can’t shake off your lethargic feeling that way, check whether any of these could help you out.

1. Be careful what you eat

Food is important to us in many ways, not just to stave off hunger. It has many other, often subtle, effects. For instance, if you’ve ever felt sleepy or drowsy in the early afternoon after a big meal. Take note of your diet and eat a little bit healthier, even if you don’t manage to do that for each and every meal.

2. Get a good night’s rest

It’s important to get a good night’s rest as your body uses this time to recuperate and perform minor, day to day, repairs on itself. If you notice that you’re not sleeping well, begin by making sure your bed time is the same each evening so that your body has a routine to follow. If possible, do this without sleeping pills but if you need them for a few nights until you get back into the habit of sleeping, don’t worry.

3. Reduce your alcohol and coffee intake

This may sound slightly strange, especially since the caffeine in coffee is a good way to boost your energy levels short term. But these drugs affect your body. Too much of either (or both) can affect your sleeping pattern for the worse. Don’t just stop drinking either of these though, make it a gradual process otherwise you may get unwanted withdrawal symptoms.

4. Use hypnosis

Download a hypnosis MP3 to combat your lethargy. All you need to do is play it to yourself and the hypnosis track will do the rest of the work for you.
